It was a big week for Cootharaba Beef Genes at the Ekka this week. With a team of 6 Brangus bulls, Duarran Laredo a 14 month old son of Duarran Genoa, won his class and followed up with Junior Champion Brangus Bull.
Duarran Jarman, a 32 month old son of Spin Doctor, looked stunning as he won his class and went on to take out Reserve Senior Champion Brangus Bull.

7/9/16 COOTHARABA VAUCLUSE - the Grand Champion Hereford bull from the Royal Queensland Show, has been sold to Glenlyon Rural Holdings for Phil & Lyle Yantsch for $30,000.

The Duarran Bull sale for 2016 will be held on property at Duarran, Roma on Thursday 22nd SEPTEMBER starting at 12 noon.
There will be about 60 Red Brangus and 10 Black Brangus bulls. Heading the sale will be Duarran Kapaldo, a Summer Wages son who is also off to the Ekka in August.

With a team of 5 Brangus and 2 Hereford bulls, Ian & Anne Galloway headed for the Brisbane show early this month – 86 years after the first Galloway team headed for the Ekka on a long journey by bullock wagon and train.
While the Herefords were by no means disgraced, they were both placed third in their respective classes.

100 Day RNA Palate to Plate Weight Gain Final
The final weigh-in for the prestigious RNA Paddock to Palate competition was held at Mort & Co’s Grassdale Feedlot on Tuesday 24/6/14.
This year the competition was fierce with 33 pens of all breeds and crosses. The top 11 pens were separated by only 170 gms for the overall ADG (Average daily gain).

The Duarran sale day was one of the hottest September days on record as well as blowing a strong wind all day. Despite that, a small gallery bid well to give a nearly 70% clearance with a top of $14,000 for Lot 6, a growthy 29 month old son of Summer Wages who weighed 1008kgs, had an EMA of 140 and was bought by the Hick family of North West Qld. Brisbane Ekka was a great day out for Duarran Brangus. 10 month old Horatio, a son of Duarran Zorro started the day by winning Reserve Junior Brangus Bull.

Bidding began briskly at the Duarran sale on Sept 27th with the first two bulls Edgeqwater and Flinders both making $16,000 and going to loyal return buyers Duff Brangus and Tannyfoil Brangus. Tannyfoil took another two, higher percentage bulls, Geneva and Geebung at $12,500 and $13,000 . Repeat buyers were the strong bidders at Cootharaba Hereford sale on Wed 12th Sept 2012. The top priced bull went locally to Injune repeat buyers, the Warrian family. The second top price was paid by David Phelan from Yarram, Victoria.
Other bulls went to Kyolgle and West Wyalong in New South Wales, as well as many local spots.

Beef 12 was a huge success at Rockhampton where the World Brangus Congress also took place.
The Duarran show team and Duarran/Cootharaba site were well visited by people from all over the world. Duarran Flinders and Duarran Edgewater were much admired members of the team, along with Duarran Geebung and Duarran Geneva. Duarran Rosie and her smart calf Gatsby were also eye catchers.

Cootharaba Magnum continues his dominence of the Australian Hereford world again in 2012 at the National Show and Sale at Wodonga in early May. A Magnum son Marwarra Yesteryear won Junior & Reserve Grand Champion Hereford bull and later sold for $30,000 to Ironbark.

Duarran Yalebone (IMG03RY744), a 30 month old 1178 kg Red Brangus, with an eye muscle area of 131sq cm took out the Grand Champion bull award. Yalebone is sired by a home bred sire, Duarran Fantastic (IMG97FS670), out of Greedale Ramify.
Following on from his great win, Yalebone was sold to the Hicks family of Billabong Droughtmasters, for a record price of $45,000 for half share and possession.
