Red Angus History

The stud was founded in 1989 after a trip to Canada and the US where we saw a large number of Red Angus cattle. We were so impressed that we decided to import some embryos from the Schmaltz family of the Red Bra Herd at Calgary, A number of Red Angus females were also purchased from the Cangan and Old Bolong Studs in NSW.

An Australia record was made in 1991 with the selling of Big Red to Angus McGilvray for $15,000.

At The Ag Show sales in Toowoomba in 1996, Duarran topped the average at $5500.

We have invested heavily in good Red Angus genetics including sires such as New Generation Kowman, IBR Nuggett, IBR Red Native, 1998 Sydney Show Champion Kansas Traces of Red, Trevone Park First Edition, Trevone Park Smash, Redlink Q30, Raff QRF Q81, K5x Indian Outlaw, Booragul Red Rooster and Leader Tollcollector.

Duarran Reddan, an impressive son of Boorgul Red Rooster, has since been used in the herd with great results. The other contributor to our genetics is Leader Tollcollector, a long muscular bull we bought at Dubbo in 2002.These sires have given us a  wonderful Red Angus base herd of females from which our sale bulls come.
