Duarran Southern Sale  - Duarran 5/12/07

       Some much needed falls of rain in late November gave buyers a glimmer of confidence for the Duarran Southern Sale held in early December.

60/61 bulls sold with spirited bidding, to mostly repeat buyers, plus some new ones, from Toogoolawah to MtIsa.

50 Red Brangus av $4250;  6 Red Angus av $3750;

2 CharX Av $2750           2 Black Angus av $2500.

        Reaching a top of $5500 were Lot 1 bought by Penna & Sons of Ingham,  Lot 2 bought by the Lloyd family of Blackall district, and Lot 63 purchased by Goodwin Livestock of Bluff.

        Bulk buyers of the day were Acton Land & Cattle Co, Penna & Sons, the Lloyd Family, and the Miles family from Blackall.

Duarran Northern Sale - "Paradise Lagoons"

"Paradise Lagoons", Rockhampton was the venue for the Duarran Northern sale on October 8th. This fantastic site, developed by Jennie & Graeme Acton showed the bulls off to perfection.

A great line up of Red Brangus and Red angus bulls was snapped up by a list of repeat buyers from Central Qld, as well as some new ones. One of the highlights of the sale were  the high EMA's and weight for age right through the offering. 10 Red Angus bulls sold to a top of  $5000 three times, going to the Acton & the Howard families, and to Waterford Grazing Co. to average $3500. 52 Brangus topped at $7500, and averaged $3493.

Lot 1, Duarran Madrid, by home bred sire Duarran  Cabana, was the sale topper, being purchased by Andrew Rea from Bowen. Madrid was a total package with an EMA of 127 and weight of 952 kgs at 24 months.

Another stylish youg sire, Lot 10,  22 month old Duarran Alderly, was bought by Peter & Kris Dingle for their Redline Brangus Stud. Alderly is also sired by Duarran Cabana, with an impressive EMA of 122 and fat cover of 11/9.

Buyers were impressed with the good value buying at the sale.

Hosts Jennie and Graeme Acton put a great line up of 18 bulls together for their Barlkey Downs property near Mt Isa."

 

38th Annual Cootharaba Sale

At the 38th Annual Cootharaba sale on Wed 12th Sept, Royal Brisbane Show Champion Cootharaba Magnum as Lot 1,topped the sale at $42,000. His new home is to be shared between Marwarra and Glenden Park Hereford Studs in Victoria. Magnum weighed in at 1011kgs, EMA 134 and fat 12/9

Lot 2 C Mendez - a real bargain at $5000, sold in shares to Scott & Phillippa Hann and Steve & Debra Reid of Truro Herefords, Moree and Bundarra Herefords, Millmerran.A great carcase bull he weighrd 1028kgs, EMA 133 and fat of 15/10

Lot 3 C Marriott has gone for $10,000 to the Lambert Hereford Stud at Charleville, and was selected by Pat & Scott Bredhauer.Also with great statistics of 1044 kgs, EMA 135 and fat 14/11.

With the drought taking its toll on the commercial buyers, the clearance of 60% was a little disappointing, but the 28 bulls sold averaged $6213. The mountain of beef in Lot 4, Loma Langi Aristocrat, sold to Des & Doro Warrian of Injune, for $8500.

Another bargain of the day was Lot 5, C Napco, an 18 month old son of Glendan Park Reform W093, who, at 796 kgs and an EMA of 114 and fat 10/9, sold to Ian & Mary Pidgeon from Allora for $5000.
