Cootharaba Hereford Semen Sires

COOTHARABA MIDDLETON    Born 29/8/05 – is a long athletic bull with a shiny slick coat and a lot of eye appeal.

He won Grand Champion Hereford bull at the 2008 Royal Brisbane Show, where, at just under 3years of age, he weighed  1190 kgs with an eye muscle area of 143sq cms, and a very desirable IMF of 4.8

Middleton sold to Glenwarrah Herefords for $28,000, topping the 2008 Cootharaba Sale.

Sire of Middleton is Monried P Express, a bull who is breeding exceptionally well here at Cootharaba.  His first calf Cootharaba Meteor, also Grand Champion in Brisbane in 2007,  was the top seller at the 2007  Cootharaba sale, going to Amosvale for $18,000.

COOTHARABA ELGIN 2 (COOT180)  Born 18/6/98 - is a proven superior breeder. Used in 11 herds, he has excelled in producing practical, economical cattle, with a combination of both milk and muscle. He is in the top 1% for milk and  top 15% for muscle.

Not an extreme bull, he is a very correct animal, with a dark slick coat and well hooded pigmented eyes.

He was Senior and Grand Champion at Beef 2000 in Rockhampton, followed by Supreme Exhibit at the Roma Hereford/Poll Hereford Feature Show a month later.

A half share of Elgin was then sold to Glenwarrah Herefords for $25,000, where he has bred extremely well, producing very saleable bulls and leaving a woderfull line of females to breed from.

In 2004 a son of Elgin – HRT Xcell was Grand Champion in Sydney, and sold for $23,000

In 2007 a son – Cootharaba Magnum was grand Champion in Brisbane and sold to Marwarra Herefords for $42,000.

His sire is Monried President, who was Grand Champion in Sydney in 1996 and purchased by Cootharaba Herefords for $10,000.  In 1998 he won the ‘Sires progeny stakes’ at Brisbane, and sired several of the top priced bulls at the Cootharaba sales.

Elgins’ dam was Cootharaba Pauline 147 who was Junior Champion in Sydney in 1990, and went on to breed many cattle naturally (several sets of twins) and by ET. Her last calf was born just before her 14th birthday and sold to the Hollis family for $16,000.
